The select board meets every other week, dates are posted, and all invoices put forth for payment should be submitted to the Selectboard before 5 pm Friday, in order to be approved by the next scheduled meeting. Thank you.

There is an answer to how long we need to keep records. The State of Maine has some very interesting information on its website regarding this subject. It is listed for Local Government Officials as well as other Town Officials such as Tax Collector, Assessors, etc.
Please follow these simple directions and you'll get there:
Go to: www.maine.gov > Maine Secretary of State > State Archives (on top menu heading, right of motor vehicle) > Records Management (on left border) > Services to Local Government Agencies > RECORD RETENTION SCHEDULES: there is a list of local government record retention schedules under this heading.
It's much easier to get to than it sounds and there is some very good information available.
